DAAAB is an attempt at translation, to put a finger between signifier and signified.
In 1936 Nini Kocher realised numerous notebooks where, through a language of x and •, she designed the construction of tapestries for a manual loom. In 2016 I visited Luzia, a musician and friend who, after the death of her mother, decided to give me those same notebooks. In her home in Switzerland, I asked her to interpret these patterns for piano.
DAAAB is an effort to create a dialogue without words, to decipher the language of a mother who left no footnotes at the bottom of the page.
